Marchionatus Sacri Romani Imperii vulgo het marck-graefschap des H. Rycx. Antwerp P. Verbiest 1662 Engr., 46,5 x 57,5 cm (a bit worn with sm. holes on the foldings and some foxing, sl. toned). Rare earlier (?) variant of Verbiest's map "Ager Antverpiensis sive pars marchionatus [...]" with an abbreviated title and many changes to the plate. Although the map has the same dedication and inset map, the cartouche has the coat of arms of the Margraviate of Antwerp (with the imperial eagle), instead of that of the city of Antwerp. Also, there are two more putti, and the topographical information is different: "Het Zwijndrechts Broeck" with "den Waterganck" from the "Sluys" to "Den Langen gaen wech", left to the coat of arms, is missing, as well the indications "die hofstede van" or "hof van" in the toponymy, etc. We did not find any other copy of this variant in literature. Ref. Tooley III:317. - De Gulden Passer = Le Compas d'Or, 1929, p. 29-30 [43]. - Dejardin, A. - Description des cartes de la province d'Anvers, p. 32 [37], 150 [136]. - KBR (in all cases: the other variant).
