"L'ouvreuse du cirque d'été" is the pseudonym used by Henry-Gauthier-Villars [Willy] to sign his chronicles Lettres sur les concerts Lamoureux, published in the review Art et critique from October 1889. He received "help" for this book, as usual, from Alfred Ernst, and perhaps from Colette, with whom he got married in that year 1893. Ex-dono ms. to the title.
