1819 Celle - 1870 Hildesheim - The painter Rembrandt with his wife Saskia - Oil/painting. 180 x 160 cm. Signed and dated r. u.: G. The great Historicist painter Georg Baumann worked for his patroness Queen Marie of Hanover. Bergmann studied at the Düsseldorf Art Academy under Theodor Hildebrandt from 1843-1851. Bergmann was involved in the painting and restoration work at the Rittergut Wallmoden and in Bückeburg. He also worked as a restorer in the painting collection of the Landesmuseum Hannover. This painting was acquired at auction at Marienburg Castle in 2005.
