Carel van Mallery (1571-1635) - The Story of the Miller, his Son and the Ass / Description: This is one of a series of six plates by Mallery (Hollstein 125-128), after Ambrosius Francken (Hollstein 6-11) depicting Aesop's fable of the miller, his son and the ass. Plate 4: A road with an old man (the miller) and his son both standing next to a donkey, a group of three women with a child at left, blaming them for not riding the donkey; depicting one of Aesop's fables; within ornamental frame; after Ambrosius Francken (1544-1618). Early edition with the publishers address of Philips Galle (1537-1612) / Dimensions: 19,30 x 24,60 cm Good early impression on watermarked laid paper (Interlaced C with a crown above).
