A PAIR OF GOLD CUFFLINKS, BY HERMÈS, CIRCA 1940 Each circular plaque with reeded borders, to a stylised bow-tie terminal with dot detailing via cable-link connectors, mounted in 18K gold, signed Hermès Paris, maker's mark 'SAM' for Strauss, Allard & Meyer, French assay marks, length 2.2cm Strauss, Allard & Meyer were one of the most important box makers, (also making paper-cutters & objects de vertu), in Paris between the two wars (1919-1941). They worked for Van Cleef & Arpels, Cartier, Boucheron, Janesich and Hermès amongst others and they were located 19 Rue Louis le Grand in the 2nd district of Paris, then 11 place des Vosges in the 4th district.
