oil painting on canvas, The Roman master, initially self-taught, was formed only later with Achille Vertunni (1826-1897), thanks to whom he approached landscape painting, never in a romantic way but with an always vigorously realistic vision.
Famous for its views of the Roman countryside, here is proposed a landscape with a cart pulled by a pair of oxen, manned by numerous characters.
The mountain range on the horizon could also to suggest that Barucci had chosen the Abruzzo plateau for the setting of this painting.
The canvas appears slightly damaged by a small tear and consequent fall of color in the vicinity. There are other minor restorations in the background.
Signed and inscribed lower left: P. Barucci / Rome. Frame in gilded stucco. 90 x 115 cm
