It was published the same year as the original, printed in 700 copies and quickly sold out (cf. Avis du libraire-éditeur). The supporting notes contain, among other things, the transcription of a letter addressed by Toussaint-Louverture to Bonaparte, in which the black general denounces the carnage and devastation that were spread on his island by the forces intended to enforce French sovereignty (pp. 349-352).
