⁂ Hassim Seedat (1930-2019) was an English born barrister and political activist, active in the anti-apartheid campaigns mounted in the UK by the Anti-Apartheid Committee. He was chairman of the Global Organisation of People of Indian Origin (GOPIO) South African Chapter based in Durban, and built up an unprecedented collection of material on Indians in South Africa, with a particular focus on books, pamphlets, magazines and memorabilia from Gandhi's time in South Africa. He also contributed to the book, The South African Gandhi 1893-1914 (edited by Fatima Meer, 1995).
