PENJAB carpet (India), mid 20th century
Dimensions : 275 x 197cm.
Technical characteristics : Silky velvet on a cotton foundation.
A pastel pink field covered with ivory flowering stems in circumvolution, hosts a rectangular anthracite figurative medallion and its cruciform outgrowths, with vegetal decoration. The four pink spandrels are with anthracite spiny brackets. Two small counter-borders with a series of flowers frame the main anthracite border with stems covered with pastel blossoming corollas.
