Silk AMRITSAR carpet on cotton chain (India), mid 20th century
Dimensions : 291 x 188cm.
Technical characteristics : Silk velvet on cotton foundation.
Four spandrels formed of flowering stems are placed on an ivory field as well as their outgrowths of plant scrolls. The central oval medallion, brick framed with turquoise is decorated with polychrome flowers. Four pastel borders with undulating leaves enclose the main ivory field flowers.
