MÉCHKINE carpet (Persia), middle of the 20th century
Dimensions : 265 x 205cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
A large octagonal ivory field, framed by small cream spandrels, hosts a large hexagonal cream medallion and its arrowhead pendants. The whole is covered with an inextricable lattice of stylized flowering stems in polychrome. Two chestnut counter borders with flowers and their pearl row highlights enclose the main navy with a series of stylized pastel crenellated flowers.
