SAROUK carpet (Persia), late 19th century
Dimensions : 145 x 97cm.
Technical characteristics : Wool velvet on a cotton foundation.
A magnificent brick medallion, vegetalized in polychromy, polylobed and its pendants arrowed, is enthroned in the center of an oblong ivory field, with arabesques and which is decorated with delicate floral stems. Four navy and floral spandrels complete the set. The frame is composed of a main ruby border with garlands of multicolored corollas, flanked by two old gold counter-borders with chess pieces in positive/negative. Beautiful harmony.
