STEINLEN (Théophile Alexandre). The miracle of the Hut-aux-Leux. Sl, [1898]. Original drawing in grease pencil, highlights in Indian ink and blue pencil on cardboard (50 x 35 cm), signed "Steinlen" in Indian ink, lower right. Very nice original drawing for the cover of the Gil Blas illustré of December 23, 1898 n°51, with the title "Le miracle de la Hutte-aux-Leux par Guy de Téramond". It is annotated in blue pencil "Conte de Nöel - par Guy de Téramond". The Gil Blas illustré was a supplement of the newspaper Gil Blas. A weekly newspaper of eight pages illustrated with drawings reproduced in black or in color, it appeared for the first time on June 28, 1891. The last issue was published on 21 August 1903. Among the famous authors were Maupassant, Zola, Verlaine and Alphonse Daudet. The main artistic contribution was made by Steinlen and Guillaume, from time to time by Forain, Chéret or Poulbot. Good condition.
