FOUGERET DE MONBRON (Louis-Charles). The Cosmopolitan, or The Citizen of the World. London, sn, 1761. In-16, green half-basin, smooth spine, spotted edges (modern binding). A good copy. New edition, the original having appeared in 1750. The work is one of the sources used by Voltaire for the writing of his Candide, but initially it reflects the experience of travels and European countries of its author, Fougeret de Monbron (1706-1760), one of those rather interloped literary adventurers that multiplied in the 18th century (Cioranescu, XVIII, 29323 (for the 1753 edition).
