⁂ Rare first part only of 6 items relating to the Blair Adam estate, issued by William Adam at the suggestion of Sir Walter Scott for distribution to friends. William Adam (1689-1748) was the foremost architect in Scotland of his time, designing Hopetoun House near Edinburgh and Duff House in Banff among others, and was the father of the architects John, James and Robert Adam. He started developing his estate Blair Adam in Kinross-shire in 1731. The other parts mostly describe the gardens and plantations.
