"First edition of this important work of the ecclesiastical Enlightenment. - The printing of the anonymously published work was perpared by the Protestant theologian Gottlieb Jakob Planck, the grandfather of the physicist Max Planck. - Werkmeister often expressed views quite contrary to those of the Roman Catholic Church. ""All his writings, most of which appeared anonymously, serve the purpose of bringing about a reform in the Church in the areas of liturgy, doctrine and constitution."" (Schulte) - Contemporary half calf with gilt spine title (slightly rubbed). Throughout with varying degrees of foxing. Endpaper with bookplate of a parish library."
