With numerous references to older literature, including a now lost German-language treatise printed by Johann Mayer in Nuremberg in 1494 (p. 39). Kirchweger was unable to consult a copy of the ''important but rare writing'' in this ''context'' (see p. 108, note 208). - Förner (1570-1630) was ""the soul of the Counter-Reformation in the high diocese of Bamberg ... He was able to work uninhibitedly against the Reformation only after the death of the mild Prince-Bishop Johann Philipp von Gebsattel (1599-1609) and the deposition of the Protestant-minded Suffragan Bishop Johann Schöner (1610). Under the prince-bishop Johann Gottfried von Aschhausen (1609-22) F. became vicar general in 1610 and suffragan bishop in 1612. ... But he did not succeed in winning Nuremberg back to the Catholic Church"" (BBKL). Under Prince-Bishop Johann Georg II.
