In the style of Eugène BOUDIN (1824-1898) Upstream cliff at Etretat, sketch Graphite on vellum 17,1 x 10,6 cm Framed and under glass (slight tear in the upper left corner) The cliffs of Etretat in Normandy have inspired the greatest painters, such as Claude Monet, Barthold Jongkind and Gustave Courbet. A native of the region, Eugène Boudin sought to paint the "simple beauties of nature". He therefore specialized in depicting seascapes and worldly tourist beaches, which he portrayed in an impressionist style, even though he did not belong to the eponymous artistic movement of the time.
