ANONYMOUS CIRCA 1850 Singing bird box. BOX: rectangular in gilded brass on 4 feet. The four sides are decorated with enamelled plates representing a blue cartouche on a white background, the perimeter is decorated with laurel garlands on a blue enamel background (missing). Bird-shaped pusher on the front for the release of the song. Opening on the top with oval lid decorated with a miniature "animated landscape". When the automaton is triggered, the medallion on the lid reveals a bird with multicoloured plumage that comes to life and whistles. MOVEMENT: mechanical with key winding on the bottom. DIM. 10 x 6,5 x 4,5 cm. An enamel and bronze "singing bird" box, circa 1850.
