TWO RINGS SET WITH LAPIS LAZULI SCARAB AND CARNELIAN INTAGLIO WITH MODERN GOLD MOUNTINGS, 2ND CENTURY B.C. AND 2ND CENTURY A.D.
The egyptian scarab engraved with nfr-j. The roman carnelian intaglio engraved with a young man in front of a seated shepherd under a tree. (scratch).
One set with a scaraboid seal engraved on the reverse with nfr-j hieroglyphs. Egypt, Greco-Roman period. Seal_ 11x10 mm (0,4x 0,3 in), 3,49 grs.
The other set with a carnelian intaglio. A bucolic scene showing an old shepherd sitting, facing a young shepherd standing under a tree.
In the field a goat. Roman art, 2nd - 3rd century. Intaglio_ 10 x 13 mm ( 0,4 x 0,5 in), 3,22 grs.
The gold mounts are based on ancient typologies; work of the early 20th century.
