Orders & Decorations Germany - Germany after 1945 - GDR - German Democratic Republic : Karl Marx Order, 1st model with award number 28, awarded to Herta Geffke - Kaasch on 26.08.1958. The order decoration gold and enamel, on original pentagonal ribbon clasp. On the reverse the milled award number "28" and gold stamp "900". The pin system also gold, with gold stamp "900". Without interim clasp. In beautiful original red leather case. First edition. The lid with gold stamped meander ribbon and the inscription: KARL / MARX / ORDEN".Inside with fine grey fleece lining. This medal was awarded to Mrs. Herta Geffke-Kaasch on 26.08.1958 on the occasion of her 65th birthday.She was member of the Central Party Control Commission of the SED and head of department in the Central Committee of the SED.The award is documented in the central organ of the SED, the newspaper "Neues Deutschland", from Wednesday, 27th August 1958, on page 2. Very rare copy and above all in the original case hardly to get. Only 60 numbered Karl Marx medals were awarded. Of these no. 1 - 30 with milled in number and no. 31 - 60 with stamped in number. From the numbers 1 - 30 only 11 pieces are known after research of the consignor. The numbers 1,2 and 3 (Pieck, Grotewohl and Ulbricht) are in the German Historical Museum, Berlin. 1-2
