Orders & Decorations Germany - Germany after 1945 - GDR - German Democratic Republic : Karl Marx Order awarded to the Minister for State Security Colonel General Erich Mielke. The Karl Marx Order Gold and enamel, on pentagonal ribbon clasp with pin back. Gold hallmark "900" on the reverse. Comes with the original ribbon clasp with oak leaf overlay. Gold, on pin. Gold hallmark "900" on the reverse. Both in a beautiful original case made of red leather. The lid with gold embossed inscription. Comes with the original award certificate to the Minister of State Security Colonel General Erich Mielke, dated Berlin, September 20th, 1978, with embossed seal and original signature of the GDR Party and State Council Chairman Erich Honecker, the certificate double page with inside embossed decoration. The award folder made of fine red leather, the cover with gold embossed decoration of the Karl Marx Order. Inside cover with gilt double decorative lines and paper mirrors. Very rare ensemble awarded to one of the most important functionaries of the GDR of great historical importance.Mielke was from 1957 - 1989 as Minister for State Security next to the respective SED Party and State Council Chairmen Ulbricht and Honecker the most important personality within the nomenklatura of the German Democratic Republic. 1-2
