Aubusson tapestry panel (detour) France. Late 17th century. Beginning of XVIIIth. Based on the life of King Mausole and Queen Artemisia II
Technical characteristics : In wool and silk. Restorations of maintenance. Some oxidation and slight natural wear.
Dimensions : Height : 210cm ; Width : 335cm
King Mausole (Hecatonides family) on the left shows the tomb he had built (the Mausoleum of Halicarnassus, remains in Bodrum in Turkey) His wife, Queen Artemisia IIin the center on his throne (who will succeed him) in - 353 BC, venerates him so much that she had him cremated (we see the vase on the right) in order to be able to ingest it with drink to become one with him. Colonnades, amphora and stains complete the decor. Border with braids.
