Joseph, very often in the company of his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and Zilpah, servants of Rachel and Leah, as well as concubine wives of Jacob. They take care of the flocks. Joseph speaks ill of his brothers to their father. Jacob loves Joseph more than any of his sons and gives him a special outfit of many colors. This does not escape the attention of the brothers. Their reaction is at first twofold. They begin to "hate him". This hatred is visceral, as their way of speaking indicates: they can no longer speak to him without aggression. Finally, Joseph has dreams that increase the tension. In one dream, the sheaves of his brothers prostrate themselves before his own, which is standing upright. In another, it is the sun, the moon and the stars that prostrate themselves before him, signifying his father, his mother and his brothers. His brothers, who already hated him, also became jealous. One day, Jacob sends Joseph from the south to the north of the Central Massif to get news of his sons who were tending the flock in the region of Shechem. Seeing him arrive from afar, his brothers decide to kill him. Reuben, son of Leah and the eldest of all Jacob's sons, objects to their murderous plan and proposes to throw Joseph into a cistern. He intends to deliver him and make him return to his father. As soon as he arrives, the brothers take off Joseph's special garment and throw it into the cistern. After eating, they see a caravan of merchants coming from Gilead to Egypt. Judah, Leah's fourth son, has another idea: ""What will we gain by killing our brother (...) let's sell him (......). The brothers sell Joseph for 20 pieces of silver. Despite the ruthless machinations of the brothers, Reuben and Judah save Joseph's life. The slave traders sell Joseph, in Egypt, to Potiphar, an officer of the pharaoh, captain of guards.
