Sparrman (1748-1820) was a Swedish physician and naturalist, student of Linnaeus, who after a 6 months stay in the Cape, joined Forster's team during Cook's second voyage. Back to the Cape in 03/1775, he undertakes with Immelmann, from 07/1775, an expedition of 8 months in the interior of the lands where he is interested more especially in mammals. It should also be remembered that Sparrman was a fervent abolitionist.
