Crucifixion of Christ
Carved ivory. Minor remnants of a former, probably partially coloured version and gilding. The recessed ivory panel with strongly raised relief shows the crucified Christ under a three-arched Gothic arcature, accompanied by the Mother of God and two mourning women as well as John, Nicodemus and Joseph of Arimathea. An ivory diptych wing comparable in the overall composition is kept in the Gulbenkian Collection in Lisbon (In. No. 423), where it is described as "Paris c. 1325/1350".
Vertical cracks. Two small holes at the top center. Browning. 10,5 x 6,3 cm.
