Pierre Boulat was a photographic collaborator of international magazines such as Life, National Geographic, People and Paris Match. He started his career in 1945 after the Second World War in the newspaper Samedi Soir. He was the first Western journalist to enter the USSR in 1955 and in
China in 1964. Pierre Boulat photographed for the American magazine LIFE during the 50s and 60s, world news, Parisian life, the political and cultural world. In 1973, when Life closed, he became an independent photographer again and worked mainly for Paris Match.
An exhibition at the Petit Palais in Paris, organized by Reporter sans frontière, paid tribute to him from September 9, 2010 to February 11, 2011.
