The defeat of Napoleon at Waterloo, the failure of the hundred days, led to the 2nd Treaty of Paris of November 20, 1815 and the occupation of France by the allied armies. Russia, England, Prussia and Austria each received an area of occupation where they remained until 1819. Paris was also occupied by foreign armies, some of which, such as the Cossack regiments or the English, gave rise to a whole range of iconography.
