The sculptor Jochen Ihle. Celle 1994, No 157. Already as a child the artist modelled animal figures out of plasticine. He often visited the Berlin zoo and the aquarium. He studied with the stone sculptor Verkerk at the Meisterschule für deutsches Handwerk. Since 1942 he studied with Gerstel in Berlin, later with A. Krantz in Primkenau. After the war he studied with Scheibe in Berlin since 1946. In 1951 Ihle received the Great Berlin Art Prize for Sculpture. In 1957/63 he was a research assistant at the Technical University of Berlin. In addition to bronze works, he increasingly created works in stucco marble from the 1970s onwards. Here, the artist tried to convey additional content through coloring and drawing of the surfaces.
