Seated Virgin and Child, ivory group carved in the round. The Virgin is represented in majesty, seated on a moulded bench, her head slightly inclined towards the Child (head and arms are missing) standing on her knee. She is wearing a veil with a few wavy strands of hair. The veil, held in place by a crown, falls in flat folds down the back. The uprights of the bench bear traces of a diamond-shaped decoration. Germany, 14th century. Weight: 569g. H.15,4 W.7,5 D.7 cm. Accidents and missing pieces. This work is to be compared with the seated Virgin in the Louvre collection (inv.oa 7271).
