PHILIPPE VI of Valois (1 April 1322 - 22 August 1350). Gold flag (8 June 1338). 5,07 g. The king seated on a throne, crowned, holding the sceptre, under a pavilion floriated with a lily. Provenance : sale Paris, Hôtel Drouot, 6 december 1961, n° 297. The golden pavilion can be considered as one of the most beautiful French coins. The king is seated on his throne under a gothic pavilion decorated with fleurs-de-lis, symbol of the celestial immensity. In his left hand, he holds a sceptre, symbol of royal power.
