A very fine and fresh proof on cream glazed vellum, numbered in pencil (68) and stamped with the red monogram. All margins. The title En quarante comes from the prostitution slang of the time, "(se) mettre en quarante" meaning "(se) prostituer". The prostitute is here sitting at a table with her client.
