A very fine proof on strong imitation japan, from the 1st edition, signed in pencil, numbered in blue pencil (N° 4) by the publisher Éd. Kleinmann and covered with his dry stamp (Lugt 1573), enriched in the lower left-hand part with an important sketch by the artist in graphite (presumed portrait of Galipaux). Large margins.

In its second state, the plate is reduced and serves as an illustration for the Menus-Plaisirs program of April 25, 1894, the subject being Le Missionnaire, a theatrical novel in 5 tableaux by M. Luguet.
Félix Galipaux (1860-1931) was a French actor, humorist, violinist and playwright, recognizable by his brushed hair. He is credited with popularizing the word "galipettes".
