"Lautrec's graphic work begins with a gillotage that Delteil dates to 1885, a title from one of Aristide Bruant's most famous romances: À Saint-Lazare. Lautrec is still at Cormon's, he paints a lot, he works, he is "very busy", says his mother, and he has settled in Montmartre where Bruant, in his cabaret "Le Mirliton" exerts on him a real fascination. Bruant had this cover reproduced in type in his magazine Le Mirliton in August 1887. "(Adhémar, p. VIII).
