The first figure, giving letters with their correspondence, plus "nulles", "doubles" and "monosyllables", bears on the back the indication: "Chiffre pour monsr de La Forest avecq Monsr de Foix Ambassadeur en Angleterre. 1561. Flandres". The other, "Chiffre de monseigneur", more detailed, gives the cade of quantity of characters (pope, kings, dukes, princes, etc.), of countries and cities, etc.
