Caresme. Lyon, Frères Duplain, 1747. 4 vols. in-12. Full contemporary basane, gilt coat of arms in the centre of the boards, ornamented ribbed spine, red morocco title page, gilt lettering. This is a copy of Pierre Compain, banker in the court of Rome, his library was given to the library of the house of Saint Joseph in Lyon. "In gratitude, the Jesuits had the iron of Pierre Compain stamped on all the volumes, bought with the rent instituted for the increase of the library.
Ex-dono printed and glued on the back of the upper cover: Ex-dono D. D. GASPARIS & ANTONII COMPAIN (...). Handwritten bookplate on title page: "Domûs probati : soc. Jes. Lugdun Sti Josephi - 1747".
Smudges at the beginning of the 4th volume.
Spiders on the binding, corners dulled.
