Two tall, dark trees at the right edge of the picture, as well as the overall very dark foreground, take on the function of a repoussoire, which enhances the depth effect of the picture. Monogrammed and dated "F. v. Z. 87" at lower left. Old tape on verso. Craquelure, min. f.a., old residue, otherwise good condition.
