Oil/canvas. Wooded river landscape with herdsmen and cows. In the foreground some cows and their herdsmen are in the shade of some trees. A body of water in the right middle ground gives a view of a hilly landscape in the background. Mountains are staggered in the middle. Here van Bemmel skilfully creates a landscape of depth by means of vertically inserted elements, and the alternation of light and shadow creates an image full of tension.
