Beautiful minai pitcher with zoomorphic handles Siliceous paste with minai decoration on turquoise glaze Iran, probably Kashan, 13th century A fine example of a ceramic with minai (low-fire) decoration in black, white, cobalt and red forming delicate arabesques on a turquoise background. The neck is decorated with a frieze of white stripes on a black background and is joined to the body by two zoomorphic handles and two spouts. A similar piece with handles forming felines is kept in the collections of the Louvre Museum, under the inventory number (OA 6172). The Musée des Beaux-arts de Lyon also keeps a ceramic of the same shape with Ladjvardina decoration (E 582). The British Museum in London holds a bowl with a similar minai decoration, said to be from Kashan and dated between 1175 and 1225 (Inv. N°1915,0609.3). H_15cm
