Gilt bronze frame with a series of pearls. Diameter : 8,2 cmT .B.E . Jacques-Frédéric Kirstein (1765-1838), made himself famous by his remarkable works . While learning the goldsmith's trade in the workshop of his father Jean-Jacques, he occupied his leisure time by trying his hand at chasing, and made rapid progress in this delicate art. He specialized in hunting scenes in the woods. Kirstein, who had acquired a European reputation, but who was afflicted with a strong Alsatian accent, was once presented to Charles X: "One realizes, Mr. Kirstein," said the sovereign, "that you are an Alsatian," "and I flatter myself, Sire," replied the artist without hesitation.
