An offset print "non-essential work" by Joël Ducorroy "Non-essential work", 2021, 29,7 cm x 36 cm Offset print Editions galerie Kahn Numbered 27/50 Joël Ducorroy is a contemporary visual artist who defines himself as a "plaquetitian" artist. He works with words and uses the license plate as a support... He meets Serge Gainsbourg and engages in a brief verbal prank with him: "Et cætera c'est adéquat". He exhibits in New York for the first time, at the Emily Harvey gallery, which mainly defends artists of the Fluxus movement. In Paris the following year, he presented his work at the Polaris Gallery. Returns to New York for a new solo exhibition and meets Andy Warhol. 1992, Le Confort Moderne in Poitiers offers him the opportunity to create an important work. He composes the interior of an apartment of type F4 in number plates. More than a thousand plates were needed to produce this work. In autumn 1998, the Museum of Modern and Contemporary Art in Nice organised a monographic exhibition for him. A reader of Gide, Bukowski, and Burroughs, Joël Ducorroy, as a collector of words, plays with art. He has been described as a neo-conceptual humorist... Joël Ducorroy has been represented since 1994 by the Baudoin Lebon Gallery in Paris and by the Kahn Gallery.
