height cm 20, Marsyas is depicted in the usual goat-like appearance of the satyrs while behind him there is a tree on whose branch rests a lion skin; standing on the same tree is the syringe, the musical wind instrument created by Athena, the cause of the dispute between Marsyas and Apollo. Finely modeled and effective expressive force in immortalizing the moment in which Marsyas begs Apollo to spare him, wondering at the same time why so much ferocity against him.
