ANONYMOUS. (Brittany). Ca. 1590-1600. Black and white. Part of a larger map. Browned paper. 208 x 269 mm.
Interesting fragment of a map showing Brittany, without title or other indication. Adorned with 2 caravels and 2 sea monsters. Framing thread visible on the west side of the map. The engraving to the south and east of the map seems to have stopped. The top of the map has been reduced, the word "sea" seems to have been eliminated, the caravel at the top left is truncated. Quimper spelled Quinper and Pontivy named Pontigny.
Joint: De la Croix. La Bretagne. 1705. 140 x 177 mm.
