It is night. In a palace with white marble walls, three young women are conversing, seated on a carpet in front of a brazier, while a fourth observes the scene. The back of the frame bears a label inscribed: "XXIII / Three Hindu ladies conversing in a room, seated on carpets, while a next woman looks on as she lifts the door of a door; Dehli, circa 1650, school of Shah Djahan".
