BOILEAU-DESPRÉAUX (Nicolas). OEuvres. With historical clarifications given by himself, & written by M. Brossette. [...] With remarks & critical dissertations by M. de Saint-Marc. Paris, David, Durand, 1747. 5 volumes in-8, contemporary fawn basane, spine ribbed and decorated, beige title and tomaison, red edges. A "highly sought-after edition" (Cohen), the most complete then published, with the Remarks of Brossette and increased by Saint-Marc. This edition uses the text and spelling of the 1701 edition, the last one revised by the author. It is illustrated with a portrait of the author after Rigaud, 5 title vignettes and 38 chapter head vignettes after Eisen, 22 culs-de-lampe and 6 hors-texte plates engraved for "Le Lutrin". A first edition copy with the reversal of the vignettes of satires 8 and 9.
