Archives and history :
In the archives of the Manufacture de Sèvres, a register is kept which tells us that the moulder-filler Léon Rigolet executed two vases with mascarons in October 1913.
In another register of the manufacture, dated June 12, 1913, one learns the creation of a vase with the mascarons by Jean-Baptiste Gauvenet; the height of the vase believed is informed, it was of 29 cm. In view of the concordance of the dates and the decorative theme and knowing that the shrinkage of porcelain after firing can reach 20%, it is very likely that our work is a proof of this vase with masks by Jean-Baptiste Gauvenet.
