Noh dog, peonies and archaic motifs
Exceptional and important covered pot with two detached handles evoking the tripod Li incense burner.
Polychrome glazed ceramic proof with archaic motifs and peonies engraved or in relief under glaze; the Dog of Noh treated in the round.
The whole is enriched with foliage motifs treated in the manner of impressionist barbotine and gold leaves bursting into flush inclusions.
Work of the 1880s.
A hair on the lid, a small chip on the base of one of the feet.
Signed and located GALLÉ Nancy under the base and with the monogram E. G. with the Cross of Lorraine under the base and on a foot, that under the base accompanied by the mention Déposé.
