Fragments extracted from the Ami des Malades. Paris, 1782, in-12 of 155 pp. gilt on edge, contemporary binding in red morocco, gilt fillet on the boards, arms in the centre, smooth spine decorated. Rare promotional work for Ailhaud's powder, a universal panacea which was distributed as far as Ispahan and the West Indies. The collection contains letters of healing - authenticated - attesting to the powers of the powder. Louis XV and Louis XVI are thanked in the preliminary notice for having freed gunpowder from all circulation taxes in order to make it accessible to the people. A very nice copy bound with the arms of King Louis XVI. The iron presents a singularity: the shield is surrounded by the only collar of Saint-Michel, without the one of the Holy Spirit - Ex-libris of M. Le Maire (azure with a stag's head, around 1800). Provenance Former Olivier AARON collection.
