To bid on this lot, contact the auction house , a deposit is required before bidding  Exceptional and rare circular porcelain cup with yellow background decorated in blue underglaze with a branch of gardenias in a large central medallion in a double circle framed on the edge of four groups of fruits on their branches including pomegranates, persimmons, lychees, and cherries. The reverse side also in blue underglaze bearing the ZHENGDE six-character mark in a double circle in the centre, framed on the wing by four lotus flowers in blue on a yellow background. ZHENGDE period (1506-1521). Condition : Very good condition, one visible hair ending in a small chip at the edge. Provenance : Belgian family collection. Two dishes with similar decorations from the Zhengde period in the collections of the National Palace Museum (Taiwan) are illustrated in the book " Blue and white Ware of the MING Dynasty ", Book IV, Hong-Kong 1963 pls 13a-b. Another model is in the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, another model in the Victoria & Albert Museum published in "Far Eastern Ceramics in the Victoria and Albert Museum, London 1980 pl. 154. Two other dishes in Japanese collections, one in the Idemitsu collection in Tokyo published in "Chinese Ceramics in the Idemitsu collection", Tokyo 1987, pl.645, the other dish in the Ataka collection in Tokyo reproduced in "Masterpieces of Chinese and Korean Ceramics in the Ataka collection, Tokyo 1980 p.104 Another piece from the Edward T. Chow Collection sold on November 25, 1980 lot 41 at Sotheby's Hong Kong had been exhibited at the Oriental Ceramic Society in 1957 in London under the number 197.
