Louis Alexis Jumel was a French industrialist, who gave his name to Jumel cotton, also called "Mako cotton", a variety of cotton known in the trade for cotton handkerchiefs, and which appeared on the world market in the years 1817. He had previously founded the Manufacture de coton de Cluses in 1812.
